Aulani – Arrival and Rooms

My family has been lucky enough to visit Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa twice. Once in 2014 and our second visit was in 2017.  I am starting to feel the need to go back!

Aulani is a beautiful resort that brings the beauty, history and spirit of Hawaii together.  Located in Ko Olina, it is on the leeward coast of O’ahu.  It is about a 30-minute drive from the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL). When we go to Aulani, we always rent a car, but there are also taxis, shuttle services and public transportation that can get you around the island.

I am going to divide my blog post about Aulani into three parts.  For the first part, I will show things about arrival and guest rooms and villas.

Arriving

From the moment you arrive, you are immersed in Hawaiian tradition.  Each guest is greeted with a lei (women) or a kukui nut necklace (men).  The children receive a Menehune necklace (I will explain Menehune later)! Stepping inside Aulani is amazing.  The details throughout this resort are breathtaking… the Waikolohe Valley pool area, the gorgeous rooms, and everything in-between, it’s all an amazing experience.  One travel tip: after we arrive and are checked in, we usually drive to a Target that is close by.  Sometimes we stop at Target on our way to Aulani. We always stay in the Villas and have a full kitchen.  So, we buy groceries for the week and we do eat several meals in our room.  Even if you are staying in a standard guest room, there is a small refrigerator that you can buy a few staples to have in your room.  Grocery shopping is always part of our arrival plans.

When you walk in the front door, this is the view immediately in front of you.

Guest Rooms

Aulani is made up of standard guest rooms and suites as well as Disney Vacation Club Villas.  If you stay in a villa, you can chose from a studio, 1-, 2-, or 3-bedroom villas.  Here are a few examples of guest rooms and villas I have been inside.

     Standard Guest Room –

  • 2 queen-size beds or 1 king-size bed and 1 queen sleeper sofa
  • 1 full-size bathroom
  • Sleeps up to 4 guests

     1-Bedroom Villa –

  • 1 king bed in master bedroom. 1 queen sleeper sofa and 1 twin pull-down in parlor.
  • 1 full-size bathroom
  • Sleeps up to 5 guests

     2-Bedroom Villa –

  • 1 king bed in master bedroom. 2 queen beds in second bedroom. 1 queen sleeper sofa and 1 sleeper chair in living room
  • 2 full-size bathrooms. 1 half bathroom.
  • Sleeps up to 9 guests

Aulani is my favorite resort out of all places I have vacationed.  It is a vacation where you can truly go and have fun, stay busy, but at the same time rest and relax. In the part 2 of the blog posts on Aulani, I will go over water fun at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa!!

If you are interested in vacationing at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, contact me at valerie@magical-vacations.com.  I would love to help you!
