Today, was a fun, exciting day! I wanted to have some really nice family photos taken at sunset on the beach. You can arrange for this at Aulani. It isn’t something you can schedule before you leave for your trip…you have to be at Aulani in order to reserve a time. So, on our first day at Aulani, one of the first things I did was go to the PhotoPass Center and give them a few dates that would work with our schedule to see if they had any openings. Lucky for us, June 1, was the day that worked! So, I was looking forward to finally having nice family photos taken.
We started our morning off though going to “Aunty’s Breakfast Celebration at the Makahiki”. This is the only character meal that you can go to at Aulani. It is a buffet breakfast and was really good. It was also a lot of fun!! It was here that we really celebrated the kids 10th birthday. They were given special buttons to wear.
When you arrive, you check in and then wait in line for photos with Mickey!
After meeting Mickey, you then wait in the lobby area of the restaurant until you can be seated. It didn’t take too long and we had our table. Everyone grabbed some breakfast and then the characters started coming by for visits.
Minnie was the first one to come by to say hello.
A little while later, Goofy came by for a visit.
During breakfast, Aunty was singing and walking around the restaurant.
Then, they invited all the kids to come up and have a parade with the characters around the restaurant. This was similar to what is done at Disney World’s ‘Ohana or Tusker House during Donald’s Safari Breakfast or lunch. The kids grabbed instruments to play as they marched around the restaurant. Zachary and Taylor decided they were too old for this and were happy to just watch.
Then, Aunty asked for anyone celebrating a birthday to join her for a special birthday hula celebration.
It was a really good and fun breakfast! A definite must if you are going to Aulani.
After breakfast, we headed back to the pool to work off what we had ate.
It wasn’t long before it was time for us to get ready for our photo shoot. Like I said earlier, you have to schedule this when you arrive at Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa. There are two different photo packages you can chose from. One is 20 minutes and you can chose 1 location. The other is 1 hour and you can chose 2 locations. We chose the 1 hour package so we could have photos taken at the resort and also on the beach. We met our photographer back at Makahiki and then headed to the pool area. She took us to a pathway that I hadn’t walked down yet. It was so pretty…you kind of forgot that you were in the middle of the pool area.
She took almost 200 photos of us during the whole session. I tried my best to narrow down to some of my favorites…but it was really hard…there are many more to still share at a later time.
I love this photo of the two of them!
When she would take photos of the kids, I took a few photos of her taking photos of them.
After taking quite a few photos in this area, we then headed down to the beach. The sunset was so pretty with the clouds.
Another photo that I just love!!!
At the end of our session, I asked her if she would take a photo of us with the resort in the background. It wasn’t something she was planning on doing, but she was so sweet and took quite a few photos of us.
It was another great day at Disney’s Aulani!!!
