After exploring some of the dining options at Magic Kingdom and Epcot, it’s time to take one of the Friendship boats over to Hollywood Studios and check out some of the dining options there.
50s Prime Time Cafe
Walking into 50s Prime Time Cafe is like walking into mom’s 50s-sytle kitchen. It’s so fun to look around at all the kitsch decor and see what old television shows are playing on the black and white TVs. If you are looking for mom’s old-fashioned comfort food, this is the place to go. The servers will play around and make sure you follow “mom’s rules” by eating your vegetables or by not putting your elbows on the table. If you are looking for a fried chicken and mashed potatoes type of meal, this is your place! 50s Prime Time Cafe is worth 1 table service credit per person on the Disney Dining Plan. Advanced Reservations are recommended.
Hollywood & Vine
This is the place to go if you are looking for fun character dining. Hollywood & Vine features two different character dining options. For breakfast and lunch, you can dine with the Disney Jr. characters at the Disney Jr. Play ‘n Dine. You can meet your favorite Disney Jr. characters like Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First and Jake and the Neverland Pirates. For dinner, Hollywood & Vine welcomes Minnie and friends for Minnie’s Seasonal Dine. You can meet classic Disney characters like Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy. The Fantasmic! dining packages are also available to reserve at Hollywood & Vine. This package will allow you to have VIP seating at the Fantasmic! show at Hollywood Studios for the evening of your reservation. It’s a great way to have a meal and see the show! Hollywood & Vine is a buffet-style restaurant and is worth 1 table service credit on the Disney Dining Plan. Reservations are recommended.
Mama Melrose’s Restorante Italiano
If you are looking for Italian food while at Hollywood Studios, this is your place to visit! Walking in, the decor lets you know you are in a cute, Italian restaurant. The tables are covered in red checkered table cloths and there are fun twinkling lights strung over head. When we eat at Mama Melrose’s, we always reserve it with the Fantasmic! dining option. Like I mentioned with Hollywood & Vine, you can reserve Mama Melrose’s with the Fantasmic! dining package and this will give you VIP viewing for the Fantasmic! show that evening. Mama Melrose’s is worth 1 table service credit on the Disney Dining Plan. Reservations are recommended. Now, who wants a cute spaghetti and meatball cupcake!?
Sci-Fi Dine In Theater Restaurant
This is one of my son’s favorite restaurants. The theming is so fun at Sci-Fi Dine In. You feel like you are at a drive-in movie. There are cars or an “automo-booth” that most guests will be able to sit in while they eat and you can watch old Sci-Fi movie clips on the big screen, along with old drive-in movie commercials. Sci-Fi Dine In is a lot of fun and definitely a different type of dining experience. It is worth 1 table service credit on the Disney Dining Plan and reservations are recommended.
The Hollywood Brown Derby
The Hollywood Brown Derby is the only table service restaurant at Hollywood Studios that I have not had the opportunity (yet!) to dine at. While at the Brown Derby, it will take you back to the golden-era of Hollywood as it is a replica of the famous Brown Derby restaurant. You can also reserve a Fantasmic! dining package at Hollywood Brown Derby. It is a Fine/Signature Dining experience and is worth 2 table service credits on the Disney Dining Plan. Reservations are highly recommended.
