Spring Break 2013 – Disney World Day 2!!
March 15, 2013
What a magical day!! I love going to the Magic Kingdom! There is something about this park that is…well, MAGICAL!!! I love going into the entrance of the park and rounding the corner to see the castle. I would love to be able to casually stroll down Main Street and see everything slowly…without a crowd of people running to get to whichever attraction. Of course, if you go and eat breakfast there and get in for breakfast before the park opens, you can kind of do this…but Main Street isn’t open yet.
We started off by getting to the Magic Kingdom about 45 minutes before the park opened. We were able to take a few pictures out front while we waited for the park to open.
Once the park opened, we quickly made our way back to the New Fantasyland. It was amazing!! The details were remarkable. I can’t wait to go back and see everything that I missed the first time. Maurice’s cottage is so cute. I loved looking around in it.
There were a lot of fun details around the outside of Maurice’s cottage.
Walking inside Maurice’s cottage was so neat. Zachary sat in his chair and Taylor compared herself to Belle’s height chart on the wall.
So, the reason you go inside Maurice’s cottage is so you can experience the Enchanted Tales with Belle. They take people back in smaller groups…maybe 25 or so and you are taken into a room with a mirror that magically changes into a door. I still can’t figure out how that happened…Disney MAGIC!! When you go through the door that was once just a mirror, you go into a room with the Bureau. She comes to life and talks to you. One of your story guides comes in and opens her up and takes out large cut outs of characters from the Beauty and the Beast story and assigns different people parts. After that, you are taken into the library and Lumiere, who is sitting on the mantle, talks a little bit and then Belle comes in and with the help from Lumiere, the story of Beauty and the Beast is told…with the help from the selected people. During our time, Michael was asked to be a suit of armor, Taylor was Phillippe (Belle’s horse) and Zachary was a pepper shaker. It was a lot of fun and really cute.
After the story is told, everyone has a photo taken with Belle.
After Enchanted Tales with Belle, we headed over to Prince Eric’s castle to experience The Little Mermaid ride. On our way, we got a really good look at the work that is being done on the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train…I can’t wait for it to open.
We rode The Little Mermaid ride and then made sure to take a few photos.
We went through the rest of Fantasyland. Rode some of our favorites like Peter Pan’s Flight and It’s A Small World.
Michael and Zachary decided to go to Space Mountain to get Fastpasses. While they did that, Taylor, Martin, Melinda and myself decided to squeeze into a teacup and go for a spin…I think all of us (except for maybe Taylor) were a little worried if we would ever be able to squeeze ourselves out of the teacup when the ride was over!
After the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, we went to the new Storybook Circus area to ride Goofy’s Barnstormer…Taylor’s favorite roller coaster.
We headed to Tomorrowland and watched Stitch’s Great Escape.
Then, we watched The Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor and also made sure to ride Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. When we were done with the ride, Buzz was outside, so we got in line to meet him. He wanted to know why I didn’t have any Buzz pins on my lanyard…guess I’m going to have to get one.
After meeting Buzz, it was time to use the Space Mountain fast passes. Taylor and I didn’t ride, so we headed over to Big Thunder Mountain to get fast passes. By the time everyone else was done riding Space Mountain, it was time for a quick lunch. We went to Pecos Bill’s in Frontierland. I really liked that they now have cast members in there that help you find a table.
After lunch, we walked over to The Jungle Cruise and rode it. It is one of my favorites. It’s so silly and corny. Our Jungle Cruise guide had a very monotone voice. I love how they make jokes about working at Disney World and about how awful the ride is. They guides are what make the ride so fun!!
After the Jungle Cruise, it was time to ride Big Thunder Mountain!! It was very exciting because Taylor had finally agreed to ride it with us. She has always refused, but I had talked her into riding it. She loved it!!! She giggled through most of the ride. I’m so glad she liked it.
Somehow, we were also able to convince her to ride The Haunted Mansion. Not sure how, but she agreed…so off we went!
We headed back over to Adventureland to ride Pirates of the Caribbean. The kids, Martin and Melinda also rode the Magic Carpets.
We decided to go back to Fantasyland so we could watch Mickey’s Philharmagic and then go back to the Beauty and the Beast area in New Fantasyland so we could try out LeFou’s Brew at Gaston’s Tavern!
We have now had both LeFou’s Brew and ButterBeer at Universal Studios in the Harry Potter area. We all agreed that we like LeFou’s Brew much better. It is a frozen apple juice concoction. It was yummy!
We continued to look around, went in the store and took a picture in front of Gaston’s fountain. Then, Gaston came out and we were able to meet him!
That night, we had dinner reservations at the new Be Our Guest restaurant.
It wasn’t long before our buzzer went off and we were being called into Be Our Guest. We were lucky enough to be seated in the Forbidden West Wing. It was awesome. Every 7 minutes a thunderstorm comes through…you hear thunder, lightening flashes and a petal from the rose falls off. Then, the picture of the prince that is ripped changes really quickly to a picture of the beast. It is just an awesome room. So unlike the brightly colored ball room that other guests eat in. Every so often the Beast comes through too. He doesn’t come around to the tables, but makes a walk through the restaurant. After your meal, you can go meet him in the study if you want to.
We left Be Our Guest. We had been at the Magic Kingdom all day and were all tired. We decided to start heading towards the exit to go back to the Beach Club.
But, before we left, the kids needed to try to pull the sword from the stone…one of these days one of them is going to pull that sword out!
We stopped a Photopass Photographer for a quick photo in front of the castle!
Then, we left and got back on the bus to go back to our home for the night. It had been a long, but fun day. Taylor was so tired, she fell asleep on the bus on the way back to the resort!
